For Health Professionals

I haven’t offered workshops or webinars in the past two years, but below is one that I’ll offer in November 2024:

Explorations in Multidimensionality:
Accessing Alternate Selves and
the Optimal Future Self

A 3-Hour Live Webinar
with Nancy J. Napier, LMFT
November 17, 2024
10am – 1pm EDT

For many years now, I have explored themes of multidimensionality and quantum realities. With my extensive background in using Ericksonian hypnosis, along with other approaches, I have worked with processes such as accessing the optimal future self and others, offering myself and clients the opportunity to have a body-mind experience of being healed and enlivened in a variety of ways. More recently, I’ve explored and begun to work with accessing alternate selves—versions of us in the multiverse that aren’t burdened with the issues we carry in this version of our lives, or that have developed talents and ways of being we would like to experience and/or express.

In this webinar, I’d like to present what may turn out to be an introduction to this work, as well as an introduction or deepening conversation about engaging choice and intention to draw on optimal and healed possibilities from within what Jean Houston calls the “quantum foam”—the repository of infinite potentialities. For some of you, this will be new material. For others, it will be familiar. I’ll do my best to offer basic assumptions about this work so that it will make clinical sense.

In addition, I’ve had a shift in how I think about healing, at least from the perspective of moving into more quantum-based approaches and dynamics. That shift has me sensing that healing is a process of receiving new “information”. I feel that when we have a body-mind experience that contains new states of being and new understandings, this represents an information transfer. Once a new experience/new information is received, I sense that the body-mind then goes through a process of generating a new template that organizes around, reflects, and integrates the new experience. None of this process need be conscious. For me, it’s quite organic and one of the things I encourage my clients and myself to do is to get out of the way, allowing the conscious mind to be in the backseat of this process so our preconceptions and conditioning don’t get in the way of taking in the new information.

One of the important assumptions I bring into this kind of work is that the “imaginal realm” is real and things that we experience within it bring valid and useful information into our body-mind experience and being. What matters is that we can access and take in a felt-sense, lived experience that conveys something new to our body and psyche. In my own experience with optimal future selves and alternate selves, it has been the experience of blending with them in order to take in a new body-based experience that has enlivened the process and made it real. By becoming a “sponge”, the only part I play is to actively soak in/receive what I experience and then to notice shifts in thinking and behaving that arise organically, without my conscious participation.

My sense is that our toolkit will increasingly expand into these kinds of approaches, even as I still have great respect for the power of self-talk, insight, and ever-deepening self-understanding and awareness. I look forward to sharing my current thoughts and approaches and to hopefully stimulate your own creativity as we journey together into ways of thinking and working with ourselves and our clients that increasingly include what we are learning from current theories and experiments involving quantum realities.

Please note that there no CEs are being offered with this webinar.

VIDEOS: On-Line Learning Opportunities

The materials offered below are for mental health, other health professionals, bodyworkers, clergy, educators, coaches, and others who work with people to promote healing and change. The videos are for training purposes and not for self-help applications.

There are currently 12 video programs of my workshops and live webinars for professionals available on Vimeo. Although these videos previously had CE approval, the original provider, R. Cassidy, has gone out of business and there are only a few States that approve these CEs. The person taking over the company will hopefully be able to reinstate the CEs at some point, but at this time it’s important that you check with your State licensing board to see if they still honor R. Cassidy CEs. For example, New York State stopped approving these CEs in December 2023. I only found out about that recently.

Even without the CEs, I believe that the content of these videos is useful in clinical practice, so I trust you will benefit from them if you choose to rent them.

It’s my hope that these video programs will offer support for the work you do with clients. One of the great gifts of having focused my career on treatment oriented to trauma resolution has been the privilege of watching people come alive again. Our underlying wholeness is ever-present and waiting for an opportunity to arise and express actively in our lives, and in the lives of our clients. How stunningly fortunate we are to be part of that process!

Wishing you well, Nancy

Working With Parts and the Interpersonal Field: A Body-Based Approach

The CDs are no longer available.

We  hope to offer a download option soon…

Read more about this workshop:

This audio recording is from a workshop offered by Nancy Napier for psychotherapists and other practitioners interested in approaches to trauma resolution that include a body-based perspective.

It can be particularly challenging to work with clients when they are unaware of being swept upby trauma energy. This workshop provides practitioners with additional skills and a greater level of ease in working with parts, the interpersonal field, and their own counter-transference responses. “Parts work” involves accessing unresolved developmental andtraumatic experiences, which express as blocked energy and habitual patterns of activation and constriction.

Some ego states represent early childhood trauma, while others emerge in later developmental stages. Many represent unprocessed trauma energy. “Parts”, include ego states, sub-personalities, imagined companions, dissociated “self-states” as well as non-trauma-based resource states such as the optimal future self.

In this workshop, Nancy also focuses on the interpersonal field created between client and practitioner, and explores opportunities that arise to track trauma responses that spontaneously emerge within relational and transference dynamics. Corrective experiences are enhanced when brought into sensory awareness in vivo.

Particular attention is brought to the capacity of practitioners to self-regulate and track their counter-transference responses, which enhances the containment and healing potential within the interpersonal field.

Nancy also describes coupling dynamics, in which elements of experience become either entangled or dissociated in ways that prevent clients from moving beyond their traumatic experience.
